Brief Biography My career begun as middle school teacher at The Academy of Math, Science, and Technology at Jim Bridger Middle School. I taught Computer Literacy to sixth graders and Advanced Technology classes to seventh and eighth graders. My past experience has been short, most of my contracted teaching experience has been at Bridger however, and before I was begun here I was at Del Sol High School as a long term sub for the full school year. It was a great experience because it really taught me a lot about Clark County School District and the expectations of being a teacher. After that year I was fortunate enough to get a position at Bridger in October of 2010 and have been here ever since. I have always taught technology; however, I have taught a wide range of technology classes from Explorations, Cyber Tech, and Information to Technology, and Advance Technology.
I have led a few different committees on campus such as School Performance Plan, e3 Leader, Technology mentor, teacher mentor, and Intern Dean from time to time. I am also the Student Council advisor, for the past 5 years, and have won the Spirit of Nevada Award 4 years now, and am an instructor for After School All Stars, which is an after school program that helps students in lower in school areas stay after school to participate in academic and enrichment activities, so they stay out of trouble.
With having all the experience in teaching and as an administrator all the wide range of technology courses my opportunity for using online content as an instructional tool has been a very rewarding experience. I am familiar with quite many online tools; however, I am more familiar with some more so than others. Some of the ones that I use often and are more familiar with are Edmodo, BrainPop, Google Drive (Docs, Websites, Presentations, Forms, etc.), Typing, Khan Academy, Prezi, Glogster, Animoto, Kid Blog, and PowToon. I am also familiar with Canvas LMS and have used with my PDE courses and have found it to be very similar to Edmodo and beneficial to the teacher and students. I have been suing the blended learning techniques with my students for past several years now, ever since I’ve taught technology, and even more in the recent years, past 3 years. I enjoy using all models, but the one I prefer the most is the flipped model. I enjoy the face to face communication but enjoy how my students can go home and on their own time and at their own pace complete an activity, so that when they return the next day, we can have a discussion on it or complete a project. This model has really freed up class time and made a difference in the way I teach content knowledge to my students.
I believe my career as a teacher and now as an administrator has helped me through my program at American College of Education and has prepared me for my career in leadership. I do believe the knowledge and skills I have learned will contribute to leadership within my district and hopefully one day to others areas. I hope you enjoy my website!
